The trek
One of El Chaltén’s lesser-known viewpoints: a long, demanding day to a natural balcony facing Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre and the glaciers.
We leave town and enter the lenga forest on the slope. As we climb, the forest gives way to rock and open ridges, and the valleys and glaciers below come into view.

At about 1,700 metres, Loma de las Pizarras is a balcony over the massif. We stop for lunch and to take it in, then come down the same way.
Good fitness and previous hiking experience are needed. The departure needs at least three people: if not, we tell you 24 hours ahead and you choose another date, pay the difference to go private, or a full refund.

Wind on the way
It is the first thing we check in the morning. Town can be calm while the lake is blowing hard, so we show both heights.
