    Afternoon

    You arrive and it is all set up

    You walk through the lenga forest with a light pack. When you get there the tent is already up, with a sleeping pad and bag. The day hikers start heading back to town.

  2. Dinner in the dome

    A hot dinner, a quiet forest

    The valley empties and the sound changes: wind, water, nothing else. You have a hot dinner while the light fades on the granite.

    From camp to Laguna de los Tres it is about 2.3 km and 430 m of climbing. You can leave in the dark and reach the lake as the first light hits Fitz Roy, before anyone from town gets there.

Where is Camp Poincenot?

In Los Glaciares National Park, on the trail to Laguna de los Tres, by the Río Blanco. From town it is about 8 km (2:45 h according to the Park); from El Pilar, about 6 km.

What is included?

The tent set up before you arrive, a sleeping pad, a mountain sleeping bag, dinner, breakfast and water. The service is provided by a local camp operator we work with; we handle the booking and coordination.

How long from camp to Laguna de los Tres?

About 2.3 km with 430 m of climbing, mostly up the moraine. Allow an hour to an hour and a half.

What facilities does the camp have?

It is run by the Park: dry toilets and stream water. There are no showers, no signal and no shop, and fires are not allowed.
