- Time
- From town, about 10 km and 5 hours one way according to the Park. There and back is a full day: start early and be back before dark.
- The hard stretch
- The last hour, after Poincenot camp: about 400 m up the moraine on loose rock. In rain or strong wind it gets harder.
- Park fee
- It is charged: since 1/6/2026, ARS 50,000 a day for foreign visitors and ARS 25,000 for Argentines. No cash: QR or card.
- Water and toilets
- Stream water is pure according to the Park. Dry toilets only at the Capri and Poincenot camps.
- Signal
- Hardly any. Tell someone what time you plan to be back.
- Weather
- Check the forecast at the lake, not in town: up there it is colder and the wind is much stronger.

Is a guide required for Laguna de los Tres?
No. The Park does not require a guide on day trails.
Is it dangerous to hike Laguna de los Tres alone?
The trail is marked. The risks are the steep last stretch, wind and changing weather, with no phone signal. In good weather and starting early it is a long but accessible hike.
Where does the Laguna de los Tres trail start?
In town, north of Avenida San Martín, or at El Pilar (about 15 km along route 23), climbing the Río Blanco valley.
