Laguna de los Tres is the famous one: 18.3 km and about 880 m of climbing on our route, with a very steep last hour up the moraine and Fitz Roy right above the lake. Laguna Torre is flatter: 16.6 km out and back from town to stand in front of Cerro Torre.

Which to choose
- A single day
- Laguna de los Tres if the day is clear; Laguna Torre if there is low cloud or strong wind up high.
- Two or three days
- Laguna de los Tres and Laguna Torre, with a rest day or the Los Cóndores viewpoint in between.
- Fit and wanting more
- Loma del Pliegue Tumbado or Loma de las Pizarras: fewer people and the whole massif.
- Mountain experience
- Cerro Madsen or the four-day Huemul Circuit beside the Ice Field.

What is the best hike in El Chaltén?
Laguna de los Tres, for the view of Fitz Roy from the lake. If it is cloudy up high, Laguna Torre is the best alternative.
What is the easiest hike?
The Los Cóndores viewpoint (1 km, about 45 minutes) and Chorrillo del Salto (3 km, almost flat). Laguna Torre is the easiest of the long ones.
What is the hardest?
Among day hikes, Cerro Madsen and Loma de las Pizarras, for the climb. The Huemul Circuit is a four-day crossing.
