Questions

What is the weather in El Chaltén today?

At the top of this page you see the current weather in town, at Laguna Torre, Laguna de los Tres, Pliegue Tumbado and at Fitz Roy’s height, with Open-Meteo data that updates by itself.

How much wind is too much for hiking?

As a rough rule we use the gusts at the spot: under 50 km/h is a good day, 50 to 75 calls for care, and over 75 km/h or heavy rain it is not worth going up. On the day, the guide decides.

How do I know if Fitz Roy will be visible?

We look at low and mid clouds at summit height during the day. If there are few, Fitz Roy is usually in view; if they cover almost everything, it is hidden.

Which day is best for Laguna de los Tres?

The one with the least wind and cloud at the lake. The week grid marks the best days for each trek and whether we have spots that day.

Data: Open-Meteo (ECMWF, GFS and other models), at each place’s real height. Orientation only: on the day, the guide decides.
